Stay with us

We are located in Richmond, St. Vincent. Our prices are from 25 USD per room per night.

We will help you to organize your outings whatever you fancy: hiking, swimming, snorkeling, diving, sailing, meeting people, exploring the rainforest etc. etc.

Below are tours that you can do in the near vicinity of Richmond Vale:

One day trip to the Volcano

It is a 2-3 hour hike along the beach and through the rainforest to the top. At the top the view is just so that it can’t be described, and you will love that in St. Vincent most of the island is untouched rainforest and human habitation looks like a little accident that happened by the coast. This is evident from the top of the volcano.

You can climb into the crater if you have the energy. It is steep and you use a rope that is placed there for the scientists who are observing the Volcano.

One day trip to Trinity Falls

This is a grand water fall, taking 3 hours to walk or a ½ hour drive. It is a 45 minute walk from Richmond Vale. The water is cool and clear. For the adventurous there is a hot spring further up the river.

Morning walk to the Dark View Falls

This is two smaller waterfalls within easy walking distance of Richmond Vale with a pool where you can sit in the water. Very nice, very refreshing. Guava and other fruits can be found on the way. Price: 0 USD unless you want a guide of course.

Richmond beach and cliffs

Black sand beach, clear water with lots of fish and other seawater creatures. If you are adventurous, you can jump into the deep from the cliffs and explore the caves.

Meet the people in Chateaubelair, a fishing and farming village. Walk around, talk to the fishermen, the children - everyone! You will see the farmers coming back from their plots of land where they grow bananas and many other tropical fruits and vegetables. There are several small restaurants and shops but nothing that caters specially to visitors.

Wallibou River

We have a nice, cool, fast flowing river just next to us. It is very relaxing to sit in the water and let the current massage you. It is like a Jacuzzi – just better. A farmer on a donkey may pass and you may get a tiny bite in your toes from the crayfish.

The Richmond Vale farming community

Walk around and meet the farmers in the valley and see how they grow their crops. They have all sorts of tropical fruits and vegetables. You can also help out on our farm harvesting bananas or limes or making juice if you like to really get to know how it is done.

Then there are all the other trips you can do around the island and to the Grenadines. Here briefly are some of them:

Kingstown - The Capital City

See the market, the botanical garden, Fort Charlotte and the everyday life in the biggest city, which is quite small with 17,000 people.

It costs 1.85 USD per person to take a bus from Chateaubelair to Kingstown one way. The buses come and go all day long, but there is no specific time schedule.

The Windward side

Tour around the island to the windward side to Georgetown and further north to Fancy. The Windward side of the island is quite different in character to our side (the Leeward side). The Atlantic waves crash in with big surfs. Stop in Georgetown for lunch. We know a very nice, little restaurant there.

Montreal Botanical Garden.

Very nice, well kept garden with lots of tropical flowers and trees among small tracks and steps and streams and lawns.

Just simply a nice place to be.

This is situated almost in the center of the island and you will need a car to get there.

Bequia

Bequia is the one of the Grenadines islands that is closets to mainland St. Vincent. It is different though, having white sand beaches, many small hotels, guest-houses and restaurants and small shops for tourists. It's economy is almost entirely based on tourism.

Bequia has a rich heritage different to St. Vincent with whaling and boat building.

The ferry trip takes 1 hour each way and there are 8 departures from Kingstown every day and 8 back again.

In Bequia you can arrange to go scuba diving and you can also go snorkeling on various reefs and wrecks.

If you want to take a scuba certificate it takes several days and you will have to find accommodation there. We can help you find a place at a reasonable price.

The other Grenadines Islands

St. Vincent and the Grenadines consists of 32 islands – about 10 of them inhabited and some of them just a sand dune with a palm tree. You can visit all of them, by boat and several of them have small airports. Some have luxury hotels and golf courses, one is a privately owned island and some are just as they have been always.

Price: It varies a lot according to what you want to do there, where you are going to stay and your means of transportation.

Whale watching

This is a one day trip and cost about 20 USD per person. And of course you can go sailing on a yacht. In the off season the price is reasonable if you are a group going out.

You probably have a lot of questions now and I will be happy to answer them, so just shoot:

The accommodation at Richmond Vale:

We are not a hotel. Richmond Vale was built to be used as a school. We have a big building with 60 rooms – two persons sleep in each room. No “extras” such as TV in the rooms.

We have 2 bathrooms with 2 toilets and 2 showers in each corridor for about 12 rooms. There is no hot water, but we actually don’t need it. The water is at most a little chilly which usually is nice and on a sunny day the water in the shower is warm.

We don’t have any malaria or other diseases you have to get vaccinated against. You can just come.

Bring mosquito repellent and sun screen and your adventurous spirit.

Best regards and hoping to see you here in St. Vincent.

Jesper Friis.
